Wssshh, Galerie Leck, Rotterdam
16mm transferred to HD, color, no sound, loop, NL, 2025

Raquel Vermunt presents a window-sized 16mm projection at Galerie Lecq. The film gathers fragments shot in the Brabantse Biesbosch and on the ferry that carries people across to this watery landscape. In these images, she explores the contemplative passage of time and the sense of slowing down that arises the moment you drive onto the ferry.

Captured on celluloid, a rhythm of waiting, moving, and observing unfolds, a stillness in which light, water, and routine merge. The title Wssshh refers to the sound of wind: gliding over the water, brushing past cars, and moving through flowing hair. Sometimes soft and warm, sometimes harsh and sharp.
